On this #NationalCancerSurvivorsDay, I’m reflect

On this #NationalCancerSurvivorsDay, I’m reflecting on my survivorship journey and remembering to #CelebrateLife!

Ten years ago this month, I underwent a thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer at @weillcornell. At the time, I was a scared 26-year-old who had just learned she had cancer. Today, I’m a board-certified patient advocate, blogger, and entrepreneur who has shared my story and created a community to support and empower other cancer patients and survivors.

Over the past decade, a lot has happened in my life. I’ve changed careers, got divorced, moved from a house to an apartment, experienced a potential cancer recurrence, and had a dear friend and mentor who passed away. At the time, each of these experiences felt like too much to bear.

But each setback in my life has provided me with an opportunity, and each challenge has reminded me of the strength that I never knew was in me until I heard the words, “You have cancer.” Now, I look back at that time and think, “If I can get through that, I can do anything!”

Today, I'm sending love to everyone affected by cancer and feeling grateful for the people in my life who have supported me on my journey.
