Spring Style: Who What Wear

Spring Style: Who What Wear

Move over Mossimo. These days I am loving a new line at Target. Who What Wear stole my heart when I first spotted the bold yellow floral sweater on a recent shopping trip (print seen above in the skirt version). So many people inquired where I got the top when I wore it to work recently that I knew I needed more of this line in my life.

After I purchased the sweater, I regretted not buying the floral bomber jacket—which I ended up going back for (and am glad that I did). I scooped it up in a small and the fit was just right with a light long sleeve layered underneath. Trust me—you will want this little jacket in your spring arsenal. I styled it with jeans and a pair of low heels and it instantly elevated my casual Friday ensemble.

Next up—The white long sleeve blouse with bow collar that is styled under the floral bomber. Can we say “winner”? I had to search three Targets for the blouse in my size (yes, you could say I was determined), but in the end it was worth it. Although you can’t see it pictured above, the blouse has black piping that runs down the sleeves. And the bow collar makes this a fun piece for work or play.

Lastly, the ribbed cold shoulder sweater was just too cute to pass up. I went with the black version and am looking forward to wearing it when the weather warms up.

And for my tall girlfriends out there—I wish I could pull off the pleated skirt, but it would look like a dress on me. Still, I had to include it because it is classic and chic.

I highly doubt that my obsession with the Who What Wear line will end any time soon. This collection makes getting dressed for work so simple. I love that you can mix and match all the pieces, and the pops of color are the perfect way to welcome spring.

Have you perused the Who What Wear line yet?

Snow Day

Well, the snow day on Long Island turned out to be a bust for the most part. Our predicted 12-24 inches of snow that had been forecasted, was more like three inches of snow with another inch or two of sleet. But that doesn’t mean it was a great day by any means. The morning brought high winds while the evening offered some light snow showers before the storm continued up the coast. All in all, it was a good day to stay in and cozy up!

Friday Feels

I have never been happier to see Friday in…my…life. Although this week had its high points (like enjoying almost spring-like weather some days and celebrating my three-year blogiversary), having to take a day off mid-week and spend its entirety at my surgeon’s office took a lot out of me. Oh, and did I mention that I walked to and from Penn Station to my Upper East Side appointment (that’s roughly 5 miles round-trip, thank you very much)? I saved myself $5.50 in subway fare (even more by not taking a cab), burned calories, and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City. I also treated myself to coffee at Gregory’s, my favorite NYC coffee shop. Needless to say, I have earned my upcoming three-day weekend, for which I have no plans and am very happy to have time to rest (and so are my legs).

Here’s a little recap of life lately as seen through Instagram:

Valentine’s Day Treats and Trinkets

Valentine’s Day Treats and Trinkets

I gave myself permission to take a long weekend…at least around here. So, apologies for my absence on Monday. I promise not to make it a regular occurrence.

What’s the best part about February…aside from New York Fashion Week, of course? Valentine’s Day, duh! Although I will be curbing my sweet tooth and trying not to indulge too much this year (oh, those Entenmann’s Valentine’s Day cupcakes are calling my name, though), I thought I would round up some cute gift ideas for yourself, a BFF, or significant other.

Lately, I am all about cozy sweatshirts that look just as good worn while laying on the couch and binge-watching your favorite show as they do paired with skinny jeans and a tailored coat. So how could I resist that XOXO number above in a super festive color? That’s right, I couldn’t. And in keeping with the XO trend, let’s give those red flats a moment. I could see rocking those babies well after Valentine’s Day.

Heading to a Valentine’s Day party? How about bringing decadent festive cupcakes, an appropriately themed heart plate from Williams-Sonoma for the hostess, or fun cocktail napkins for guests?

So, even if you are on a sugar detox like me, there are still plenty of ways to show your love and get into the Valentine’s Day spirit.

What are your favorite Valentine’s Day gifts?

The (Seriously) Last-Minute Gift Guide

The (Seriously) Last-Minute Gift Guide

So here we are…down to the wire. In T-minus four days it will be Christmas and you haven’t even started shopping. Don’t despair (I say this as a reminder to myself as well). We are getting dangerously close to the point of no return when it comes to online shopping and having your presents wrapped and under the tree in time. With that said, plenty of retailers make shopping in-store a breeze. If you have a long list, I would suggest hitting up Target, Ulta, Sephora, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, and Gap for all of your gifting needs. I was at Gap over the weekend, and their inventory (combined with the sales!) made for easy shopping. The plaid shirt above was a recent purchase of mine, and given how soft the fabric is and how affordable the price was, this gift is a no-brainer. Of course, the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick set (bonus points: it includes the glitterazzi top coat) is a gift that is hard to beat.

Regardless of what you decide to purchase for your loved ones, it is crunch time. I hope this last-minute gift guide (along with this one and this one) have helped you out this holiday season.

Stay sane and happy shopping!

The Gift Guide for Everyone on Your List

Now that it is officially December, the time has come to start presenting you with all of those fun gift guides. Since I have yet to do any holiday shopping (well, I did gift myself a few new things from Target yesterday — including the buffalo plaid pajama set seen below), I thought I would round up some items that will be gifted (hopefully to others!) this season. Whether you are searching for that special something for the fashionista, techie, or hard-to-please coffee drinker in your life, here are some presents that will be well received.

Birthday Buys

Birthday Buys

As my birthday month concludes, nothing makes me happier than opening the last of my presents (even if I did gift them to myself). If you follow me on Snapchat and Instagram, you may have watched as I opened my Black Friday/Cyber Monday purchase from Anthropologie — the Letters in Lights earrings set. Yes, I have been on quite the earring kick lately!

But that wasn’t the only thing I bought myself this month. On a recent lunchtime visit to Target, I stocked up on lots of sweaters. If you haven’t been there in a while, I highly suggest you go. I purchased a cream cowl neck Mossimo sweater that I will be buying in however many other colors it comes in. It’s that cozy – trust me! And since Mossimo can do no wrong, there may have been a cardigan…a burgundy long-sleeve shirt, and another oversized sweater that also found their way into my winter collection.

On the beauty front, what would a month (or a week be!) without a stop at Ulta? Naturally, I ran out of my beloved Stila Smudge Stick in Lionfish (still using that one and still love it) and with the holidays coming, I was in desperate need of a new nail polish. Insert Chick Flick Cherry from OPI — the perfect shade for the winter months (and a nice alternative to red).

Thank you for indulging me as I celebrated my birthday month!

Sweets, Shopping, and Snoozing

I’m still in a food coma as I sit down to write this post, but I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. Yesterday left me feeling incredibly thankful and grateful. I’m so honored to have this space on the Internet that you all come to and read what I have to say. I’ve shared a lot about my struggles on this site, and while they have been challenging, I am grateful for them because they have shown me a strength that I never knew I had. So, thanks to all of you for your continued support over the years. Your sweet comments make blogging a truly rewarding experience.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in (which I rarely get to do these days) on this long weekend and getting back to my weekly kickboxing routine. Something about indulging in a seven-layer cake on Thanksgiving (combined with all of the birthday sweets this month), makes working out seem like a good idea.

Of course, don’t forget to hit up your favorite retailers today for some steals and deals. But I have a feeling I didn’t need to remind you about that. Happy shopping!

Sunny Summer Style

Mossimo Strapless Dress

After 18 hours in the car (and nine states and one District later), I have arrived in sunny Florida. If you’ve been following my journey on Instagram and Snapchat (@livinginsteil), you’ve probably seen all of the travel snaps I took along the way (don’t worry — more will be coming, soon).

Mossimo Strapless Dress

There was so much to do before I left New York that scheduling my posts this week never happened (#bloggerfail). So here I am, with an outfit post from Florida. To say it’s been hot and humid down here is an understatement. I wore one of my favorite summer dresses from Mossimo the other day in an effort to combat the heat. While I wish I could be lounging by the pool, my days have been filled with tons of errands. This simple strapless number, which is an oldie but goodie, was the perfect partner to beat the August humidity while still looking chic. Plus, the dress pairs nicely with my Sam Edelman sandals (which have gotten quite the workout since I purchased them). If you don’t have a simple strapless staple for summer, run to your nearest Target and check out Mossimo’s selection. This dress is so comfy that I recently bought a second one in a different print (but this one is still my favorite).

Marimekko for Target

Marimekko for Target

What better way to start a new week than with some shopping? If you adore Target as much as I do, you probably have already made a run to your nearest store to scoop up pieces from their latest designer collaboration. That’s right! Marimekko for Target is here.

I wasn’t initially sold on this collection, but after careful inspection, I’ve had a change of heart. What’s not to love about these bold colors and patterns? I can see myself frolicking on the beach in this black-and-white one-piece swimsuit. And how could you pass up this chic cover up to finish off your beach ensemble?

But the designer collection doesn’t stop there. Marimekko has created a fun line of plates, pillows, and chairs — everything you need to get yourself (and your home) ready for summer.

So what are you waiting for? Summer is right around the corner, and this playful collection won’t be around for long.

Which Marimekko pieces are on your summer wish list?
