Well, the last few weeks have been rather interesting, have they not? I’ve been trying to return to my little corner on the Internet for quite some time, but have been finding that I have both too much and too little to say on so many different topics. In truth, I’ve needed a little time away—to clear my head, enjoy nature, and just process everything going on in my own world and the world at large. Now that I’ve had some “me” time, I’ve gained a fresh perspective and I am ready to share some fun plans I have on my agenda this month.
Here’s what’s on my November agenda:
Go: If you’re a regular reader, then you might recall that November is my birthday month. Yes, at almost 34, I still believe in a birthday month. While 2020 hasn’t left me quite in the mood to celebrate, working from home all these months has made me feel like I need a change of scenery. Since I can’t venture too far, I decided to book an overnight stay at Hero Beach Club in Montauk. Most of my trips this summer were spent out east, so I figured that I might also celebrate my birthday out there. Hero Beach Club sits right on the ocean, so I’m looking forward to relaxing in my room and getting out for a nice long beach walk. I can’t think of a more restorative way to spend my birthday.
Try: What would a trip out east be without a stop at a local vineyard for a tasting? Can you believe that in all of my years living on Long Island this is something that I’ve never done? I can’t either. So, I asked a couple of friends to recommend their favorite vineyards that offered outdoor tastings, and Shinn Estate Vineyards in Mattituck was the clear favorite. Set in a 125-year old barn and on more than 28 acres, this place has a rich history and some seriously good wine (from what I’m told).
Do: While things may have been a little quiet around here the last month, I can assure you that this site has been on my mind. When I started it 6 years ago, I was just recovering from a thyroid cancer diagnosis and trying to decide what was next for me. My life has changed a lot over the last few years and so I’ve been thinking about what I want this site to look and feel like. I’m excited to be working with an incredible marketing consultant who has a similar background and story as my own. Together, we’re thinking of ways Living in Steil can reach more people and coming up with engaging future content. I’m so grateful for all of you who have been following my journey throughout the years. My goal for this site has always been and will continue to be to create an open and honest resource for everyone, where people can come together, learn, and grow. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Living in Steil as I embark on my seventh year of blogging.
Meet: There will be a very special introduction made on the blog later this week! If you’re following along on Instagram, you may have a hint as to what it might be. As I mentioned in last month’s agenda post, I’ve returned to something that I used to do for many years and it has brought me so much joy. I can’t wait to share it with you soon!
